Yoshimochi Kino

Japanese: 紀淑望 - きのよしもち

?-919 A Chinese scholar and poet from the early to mid-Heian period.
The eldest son of Ki Haseo. He is also said to be the adopted son of Ki Tsurayuki. In 896, he became a Monjosho (literature student). After serving as Daigaku no Kami (head of the university) and Togu Gakushi (a scholar of the Imperial Court), he became Shinano Gonnosuke (a vice-president of the Imperial Court). He left three waka poems in imperial anthologies including the Kokin Wakashū (Collection of Poems), and a Chinese poem at the beginning of the Wakan Roeishu (Collection of Poems). There is also a theory that he is the author of the preface to the Kokin Wakashū (Collection of Poems). He died in the 19th year of Engi.

紀長谷雄(はせお)の長男。紀貫之の養子ともいわれる。寛平(かんぴょう)8年(896)文章生(もんじょうしょう)となる。大学頭(だいがくのかみ),東宮学士をへて信濃権介(しなののごんのすけ)。「古今和歌集」以下の勅撰集に和歌3首,「和漢朗詠集」巻頭に漢詩をのこす。「古今和歌集」真名序の作者とする説もある。延喜(えんぎ)19年死去。
