Lin Feng (English spelling)

Japanese: 林鳳 - りんぽう（英語表記）Lin Feng; Lin Fêng

A Chinese pirate leader in the late Ming Dynasty. Known in Spanish records as Limahon. A native of Raoping County, Chaozhou Prefecture, Guangdong (Raoping County, Guangdong Province), his grandfather led a group of pirates in the East and South China Seas. The pirates at the time were armed merchant groups and ran rampant on the seas, often in alliance with Japanese pirates. After the Spanish built Manila, he advanced into Luzon, and in 1574 he invaded the city, posing a threat to the Spanish government, but was eventually repelled.
