Okinawa Prefecture Reversion Council - Okinawa Prefecture Reversion Council

A unified organization that became the driving force behind the movement for Okinawa to be returned to the motherland. Abbreviated as Reversion Association. Since its formation in April 1960, it promoted the prefectural citizens' movement demanding reversion, centering on Okinawa Day, which is held every year on April 28th (the day the Treaty of Peace with Japan came into effect). With 46 influential organizations from various fields, including the Okinawa Teachers' Association, it built a bipartisan movement across the island, and played the role of a prefectural citizens' movement center, not only demanding reversion, but also working on anti-war and anti-base struggles, movements for expanding autonomy, and movements for protecting life and human rights. After reversion was realized (1972), it was dissolved on May 15th, 1977.

沖縄の祖国復帰運動の推進母体となった統一組織。復帰協と略す。1960年（昭和35）4月に結成されて以来、毎年4月28日（対日講和条約発効の日）の沖縄デーを中心に復帰要求の県民運動を推進した。沖縄教職員会など各界46の有力団体が加盟し島ぐるみの超党派的運動を構築し、復帰要求だけでなく、反戦反基地闘争、自治権拡大運動、生活擁護・人権擁護運動などにも取り組み、県民運動センターの役割を果たした。復帰実現（1972）後の77年5月15日解散。
