Anomateka - Anomateka

A semi-cold-hardy bulbous plant of the Iridaceae family (APG classification: Iridaceae) that is planted in autumn. It is also called Anomateca purpurea. Native to South Africa. Anomatheca is an old genus name, and is now part of the Freesia genus. Sword-shaped leaves appear in autumn. Around May, flower stalks grow to about 20 cm and produce several crimson flowers about 1 cm in diameter. Variants also have white flowers. The plant has a delicate appearance and is suitable for potted plants. Around October, five bulbs are planted in a No. 4 pot, and grown inside a frame or in a sunny room. Use soil that has good drainage. In July, when the leaves have withered, dig up the bulbs, dry them, and store them. Reproduction is by bulb division or seedlings.

アヤメ科（APG分類：アヤメ科）の秋植え半耐寒性球根草。ヒメヒオウギともいう。南アフリカ原産。アノマテカは旧属名で、現在はフリージア属である。秋に剣状の葉が発生する。5月ころ約20センチメートルの花茎を伸ばし、径約1センチメートルの朱紅色の花を数個つける。変種には白色花もある。草姿は可憐(かれん)で鉢物に適する。10月ごろ4号鉢に5球植えし、フレーム内か日当りのよい室内で栽培する。用土は排水のよいものを用いる。7月に、葉が枯れたら球根を掘り上げ、乾燥後貯蔵する。繁殖は分球か実生(みしょう)による。
