Ichinomiya Nagatsune

A swordsmith of the Edo period. Born in Tsuruga, Echizen Province (Fukui Prefecture). Called Kashiwaya Chuhachi, he is said to have been a former metal plating artist. He also had the pen names Ariyuki, Kanshoko, and Yukiyama. He trained under swordsmith Yasui Takanaga, who was in the lineage of Goto Ryujo, and on September 21, 1770 (Meiwa 7), he received the title of Echizen Daijo as a reward for preparing metal fittings for the Imperial Palace's folding screens. He studied painting under Ishida Yutei, and was skilled in sketches, making him one of the masters in Kyoto. He excelled in painterly compositions, with a unique style that combined shishi aibori with katagiribori, inlay, and color painting.

江戸時代の装剣金工家。越前(えちぜん)国（福井県）敦賀(つるが)生まれ。柏屋(かしわや)忠八と称し、もと鍍金(めっき)師であったと伝える。蟻行子、含章子、雪山の号がある。後藤隆乗(りゅうじょう)の流れをくむ太刀師保井高長のもとで修業、1770年（明和7）9月21日、御所の衝立(ついたて)の金具を調進した賞として越前大掾(だいじょう)を受領(ずりょう)。石田幽亭(ゆうてい)に絵を学び、下絵に巧みで、京都における名人の一人に数えられている。肉合彫(ししあいぼり)に片切彫(かたぎりぼり)象眼(ぞうがん)色絵を交えた独自の作風で、絵画的構図を得意とした。
