A former town in Kahoku County, central Ishikawa Prefecture. In addition to rice cultivation in the plains that continue from the reclaimed land of Kahokugata, the town also produces watermelons, radishes, barley, and other crops. Industries such as textiles, electrical machinery, and steel are thriving. The town is on the Nanao Line and has developed around the station. In March 2004, it merged with Takamatsu Town and Nanatsuka Town in Kahoku County to form Kahoku City. 31.97 km2 . Population: 12,881 (2003).
