A former town in Kahoku County, central Ishikawa Prefecture. In addition to rice cultivation in the plains that continue from the reclaimed land of Kahokugata, the town also produces watermelons, radishes, barley, and other crops. Industries such as textiles, electrical machinery, and steel are thriving. The town is on the Nanao Line and has developed around the station. In March 2004, it merged with Takamatsu Town and Nanatsuka Town in Kahoku County to form Kahoku City. 31.97 km2 . Population: 12,881 (2003). 石川県中部,河北(かほく)郡の旧町。河北潟干拓地に続く平野部で米作を行うほか,スイカ,ダイコン,大麦などを産する。繊維,電気機械器具,鉄鋼などの工業が盛ん。七尾線が通じ,駅を中心に市街が発達する。2004年3月河北郡高松町,七塚町と合併し,かほく市となる。31.97km2。1万2881人(2003)。
