Cangzhou

A prefecture-level city in the southeastern part of Hebei Province, China. It has jurisdiction over nine counties, one autonomous county, and two city districts, including Cang County, and acts as the administrator for four county-level cities, including Botou City (as of 2016). Population: 7,684,000 (2014). With a grand canal running through it from north to south, it has been a key water transportation point since ancient times. During the Ming Dynasty, a transportation office was established in Changlu Town here, and it was the center of salt distribution, and the salt produced there was called Changlu salt, a representative sea salt produced in North China. Located in a coastal area, the land is highly salinated, but irrigation is being promoted using canal water. Famous agricultural products include wheat, corn, and jujubes. The Jinghu Line, the Jingjiu Line, and the Shuohuang Line (Shenchi - Huanghua) pass through the area. In front of Kaiyuan Temple in Cang County, there is the oldest cast iron lion statue in China, made during the Five Dynasties period.

中国、河北(かほく)省南東部の地級市。滄県など9県と1自治県、2市轄区を管轄し、泊頭(はくとう)市など4県級市の管轄代行を行う（2016年時点）。人口768万4000（2014）。大運河が南北に貫流し、古くから水運の要衝であった。明(みん)代にはこの地の長盧鎮(ちょうろちん)に転運司が置かれ、塩の集散の中心地で、その塩は長盧塩とよばれ、華北産の代表的海塩であった。沿海地帯にあって土地の塩化が激しいが、運河の水を利用して灌漑(かんがい)を進めている。農産品としては小麦、トウモロコシなどのほかナツメが有名。京滬(けいこ)線、京九線、朔黄(さくこう)線（神池(しんち)―黄驊(こうか)）が通る。滄県の開元寺前には、五代につくられた中国でもっとも古い鋳鉄製の獅子(しし)像がある。
