…French manuscript illustrator. Born into a family of artists in Bourges. He produced lavish illustrations for the royal and aristocratic figures associated with the French court. In the 1480s, he completed the unfinished Prayers of the Duke of Berry for the Duke of Savoy. His representative works include the Prayers of Louis de Laval (c. 1480-85) and Romuleon (c. 1490). His composition and iconography show the influence of Fouquet, but his sense of dynamic crowd depictions is different from Fouquet's classical spirit. …
