...The main habitat is India and Southeast Asia. D. strictus Nees (English name: solid bamboo) has a solid stem at the bottom, and is also called wooden bamboo. Large ones can reach 8cm in diameter, and they grow well in dry, poor soil, and are attracting attention as a pulp material.
