Japanese: 一人役 - いちにんやく

〘noun〙① Having average skills. Being able to work alone. ※Haikai, Uda Hoshi (1702), opening volume and Haikai Ikan Sata, "Those who do not make a decision quickly will not be able to work alone in Haikai." ② One of the samurai duties in the early Edo period. They were allocated to the samurai's fief and salary and paid as tribute. ※Chosokabe Clan Rules (1596), rules, "The duties of the samurai are set at silver, but for every 50 koku of rice produced, it is one person's duty."
