Also called "Hyuga-ki." It is said to have been written by Nichiren's disciple Niko between 1278 (Kōan 1) and 1280, but from bibliographical and doctrinal points of view, it is considered a later forgery. A Muromachi-period copy is kept at Myōken-ji Temple in Nizō (Toda City), and one edition of unknown publication date has a colophon that suggests it was copied in 1500 (Meiō 9). The Myōken-ji version states that it is "within the upper three volumes," so it may have originally been three volumes. Only the upper volume, which contains 90 articles, remains today. Influenced by the Middle Ages Tendai, it shows a tendency toward contemplation based on the idea of hongaku, but its tendency is said to be more simple than that of the similar work "Ongikuden," and while Ongikuden is said to have been created within the Nikko school, this work is said to have been created within the Ichi school.
