One person's allowance - Ichininbuchi

Japanese: 一人扶持 - いちにんぶち

〘 noun 〙 In the Edo period, this was a standard of the salary paid by a lord to his retainers. In the case of the shogunate, the standard food allowance for each person per day was about 5 go of brown rice, and 1.5 to sho per month, and this was a year's worth of rice or its equivalent in monetary terms.
