Sufyan (English spelling)

...661-750. All 14 caliphs were from the Umayyad dynasty (the first three were from the Sufyan dynasty, and the next 11 were from the Marwan dynasty). The dynasty was established by Arab conquest, and its policy was to maintain the national unity of the Islamic society and to expand the Islamic political sphere, resulting in the acceptance of the rule of different Arab ethnic groups and their exclusive privileges.
