Japanese: 寺泊[町] - てらどまり

A former town in Mishima County, central Niigata Prefecture. It occupies the mouth of the Shinshinano River (Okozu Diversion Channel) and faces the Sea of Japan. The city center has long developed as a post town on the Hokuriku Kaido road and a port town for the Nishimawari shipping line. The Echigo Line runs through the town. There is a nationally famous direct sales fish market and an aquarium. The coast is a swimming beach. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Nagaoka City along with Tochio City, Yoita Town in Mishima County, and Washima Village. ^{58.16 km2} . Population 12,072 (2003).

新潟県中部，三島(さんとう)郡の旧町。新信濃川（大河津(おおこうづ)分水路）河口を占め，日本海に面する。中心市街は古くから北陸街道の宿場町，西廻海運の港町として発達した。越後線が通じる。全国的に有名な直販魚市場，水族博物館がある。海岸部は海水浴場。2006年１月栃尾市，三島郡与板町，和島村と長岡市へ編入。58.16km²。１万2072人（2003）。
