This hot spring is located in Asahi-machi, Shimoniikawa-gun, northeastern Toyama Prefecture. It is located in a hilly area about 2km east of Tomari Station on the Hokuriku Main Line. In the past, Ogawa Onsen was called Ogawa Motoyu, which is located about 10km up the stream from Tomari Station. This mountain hot spring resort, known as "Kodakara no Yu," was destroyed by a flood at the end of the Meiji period, and the current Ogawa Onsen was opened by drawing water from the hot spring. Ogawa Motoyu was rebuilt after World War II, and is popular for its open-air bath in a cave where visitors can bathe by candlelight. The spring is saline, with a temperature of 60-68°C at Ogawa Motoyu and 40°C at Ogawa Onsen. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
