…Professor of comparative linguistics at the University of Copenhagen (1937-1965). He proposed his own theory of language, which he called glossematic. In 1931, together with Viggo Brøndal (1887-1942), he founded the Copenhagen Linguistics Group, and in 1939, he founded the international journal Acta linguistica.
