The diary of a feudal lord in the early Edo period. It is a record of Matsudaira Yamatonokami Naonori's life, which he continued to write from the age of 17 in 1658 (Manji 1) until his death at the age of 54 in 1695 (Genroku 8). Commonly known as the Yamatonokami Diary or the Naonori Diary, it contains detailed information on official events and private life. In particular, the records of theater performances in which entertainers were invited to the mansion are highly useful as a first-class resource for research on early modern theater. Other valuable materials include frequent records of falconry, articles on the Echigo Disturbance, and descriptions of Nonoguchi Ryuho, making it a valuable resource that contributes to research on early modern literature and history.
