…It is a symbolic writing system that blind people read with their fingertips, and is made up of a combination of raised dots on the surface of paper. The Braille system that is currently used worldwide was invented in 1829 by the blind Frenchman Louis Braille (1809-52). This enabled blind people to read and write freely for the first time, and brought about a revolutionary advance in educational methods. Braille's Braille system is made up of six dots, three vertically and two horizontally, and the alphabet is represented by the way these are arranged. …
