Also called athetosis. A condition in which the fingers, toes, face, tongue, etc. make repeated, slow, purposeless, involuntary movements. It is common in children, and some cases are indistinguishable from chorea. It can be bilateral or unilateral. There is also symptomatic athetosis, which can be seen as an aftereffect of cerebral palsy or stroke. アテトーシスともいう。手や足の指または,顔面,舌などに,目的のないゆるやかな,うごめくような不随意運動が繰返される状態。子供に多く,舞踏病と区別できないものもある。両側性と一側性がある。このほかに症候性アテトーゼといって,脳性麻痺,脳卒中の後遺症としてみられるものがある。
