Mukanna Rebellion - Mukanna Rebellion
A rebellion (776-783) led by Hashim bin Hakim (?-783), nicknamed Muqanna' al-Muqanna (the Masked One), in Mawarannahr. The rebels, known as Mubayyiḍa (the White-robed One), were made up of local Khorramite peasants and Turkish tribesmen. Muqanna was considered the last of the divine incarnations in the prophets, beginning with Adam and ending with Abu Muslim (according to another report, Muhammad bin al-Hanafiyya).
