An explosive used to ensure the explosion of explosives or blasting agents, also called a booster. Explosives used to detonate explosives, such as explosives, ammonium nitrate oil explosives, and certain types of water-containing explosives, are difficult to detonate reliably using only a detonator or primary explosive. For this reason, a booster explosive is placed between the primary explosive or detonator and the explosive that is insensitive to shock to ensure the explosion. Tetryl or pentrite-based explosives are used as boosters for explosives, and dynamite or cap-sensitive water-containing explosives that can be detonated with a single detonator are used as boosters for ammonium nitrate oil explosives.
