Lawrence
A city in eastern Kansas, USA. Located along the Kansas River. Known as a cultural city with the University of Kansas. Many brick buildings from the late 19th century remain, including the Watkins Museum and the Rudridge Hotel.
A city in northeastern Massachusetts, USA. Located on the Merrimack River. A dam was built in the mid-19th century, and the city developed as a center of the textile industry. Today, various industries, including shoe manufacturing, are still active here. The poet Robert Frost spent his student years here.

Thomas Edward Lawrence

[1888-1935] British archaeologist and soldier. Born in Ireland. Participated in excavations of ruins in Iraq. During World War I, he led the Arab independence movement in Turkish territory and was called "Lawrence of Arabia." Author of "Seven Pillars of Wisdom."

Lawrence (Ernest Orland Lawrence)

[1901-1958] American experimental physicist. Invented the cyclotron. During World War II, promoted the creation of the atomic bomb. 1939 Nobel Prize in Physics.

ローレンス(Thomas Edward Lawrence)

[1888~1935]英国の考古学者・軍人。アイルランド生まれ。イラクの遺跡発掘などに参加。第一次大戦中、トルコ領内のアラビア人の独立運動を指導し、「アラビアのローレンス」とよばれた。著「知恵の七柱」。

ローレンス(Ernest Orland Lawrence)

[1901~1958]米国の実験物理学者。サイクロトロンを製作。第二次大戦中は原子爆弾製造を推進した。1939年ノーベル物理学賞受賞。
