...In 1952, a discrimination incident at Yoshiwa Junior High School in Hiroshima Prefecture triggered a qualitative transformation in Dowa education, which became a movement to guarantee the career paths of schoolchildren from discriminated communities and to raise the responsibilities and issues of educational administration, and in 1953, the National Dowa Education Research Council was formed. In 1955, the Liberation Committee changed its name to the Buraku Liberation League (Liberation League), which was more appropriate for a mass organization. In 1958, under the slogan "Make the Buraku issue an issue for the entire nation," the Liberation League launched a movement to demand the establishment of a national policy for Buraku liberation in cooperation with progressive political parties such as the Japan Socialist Party and the Japanese Communist Party, democratic organizations, and local governments....
