It is usually called the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory. It is a national high-energy physics laboratory in Berkeley, California, USA. It is operated by the University of California. In 1930, the first cyclotron was built at the university by E. O. Lawrence and others. As a result, high-energy physics using artificially accelerated particles became widely developed. Thus, in 1936, the laboratory named after Lawrence was established as a research center for high-energy physics.

通常，ローレンス放射線研究所と呼ばれている。アメリカのカリフォルニア州バークリーにある国立の高エネルギー物理学研究所。カリフォルニア大学が運営にあたっている。1930年，同大学でE.O.ローレンスらによって，最初のサイクロトロンが製作された。その結果，人工的に加速された粒子による高エネルギー物理学が大々的に展開されるようになった。こうして36年，高エネルギー物理学の研究拠点としてローレンスの名を冠した研究所が設立されたわけである。
