Born in the 8th year of the Kyoho era. A samurai at Ninnaji Temple in Kyoto. He learned haiku from Nakagawa Teisa, but at his teacher's suggestion he switched to kyoka and studied under Jinenken Donzen. In his edited work "Kyoka Ro no Koba," he advocated for the ability to improvise and perform spontaneously. He had many disciples, including the first Tokukansai. He passed away on August 9, 1762.
