Brick - Brick (English spelling)

Brick - Brick (English spelling)
A type of building material made primarily from clay. Clay containing compounds such as iron and calcium is mixed with sand as a deviscosifying agent, molded into a rectangular block, dried, and fired. The dimensions have changed over time, but the current standard dimensions in Japan are 210mm x 100mm x 60mm. There are two main types of bricks: ordinary bricks (red bricks) made from ordinary clay, and firebricks made from various materials depending on the purpose. Ordinary bricks include irregularly shaped bricks for special places such as windows, entrances, and ceilings, terracotta bricks that are glazed and fired at high temperatures to enhance their decorativeness, hollow bricks whose main purpose is to block sound and heat, and pavement bricks used for road paving. Firebricks are the most important in industrial technology. Since they began to be produced by kiln firing, they have become usable as building materials in any region regardless of humidity or rainfall, and various methods of laying bricks have developed.
