In Japan, as stipulated by the Road Traffic Act, depending on the type of vehicle, there are large licenses (20 years old or older, except for large vehicles with a total vehicle weight of 11 tons or more and dump trucks, 21 years old or older), regular licenses, large special licenses (all 18 years old or older), two-wheel licenses, small special licenses, moped (motorized bicycle) licenses (all 16 years old or older), and towing licenses (18 years old or older) (all of these are Type 1 driver's licenses), and a provisional license (valid for 3 months) is required to practice driving on the road to obtain these licenses. …
