Properly pronounced Nippon, this is a monthly general magazine published by Nippon Hyoronsha. It took over the volume and issue number from Keizai Orai, a general magazine launched by the same company in 1926, but changed its title from the October 1935 issue. It is in chrysanthemum format. The editor-in-chief was Murofushi Takanobu until 1943. It published controversial works such as Abe Tomoji's Kazeyuki. In 1944, due to wartime restrictions, the title was changed to Keizai Hyoron, but after Japan's defeat, the title was restored from the April 1946 issue, and it opened up new fronts with reportage that made full use of documentary techniques and "Toki no Ugoshi," which even went so far as to criticize the occupying forces' policies, and was called a new general magazine.
