A town in Myozai County in central Tokushima Prefecture. Occupying the mountainous area in the upper and middle reaches of the Akui River, it is rich in timber such as cedar and cypress. Local specialties include plums and sudachi citrus. Dairy farming and pig farming are also practiced. Shosanji Temple is the 12th temple of the 88 Shikoku temples. Area: 173.30 km2 .
