A town in the Haute-Garonne department in southern France. Population 3,602 (1982). A hot spring resort located at an altitude of 630m in the central Pyrenees. With 21,246 socially insured hot spring users (1976), it ranks third in France after Dax and Aix-les-Bains, and the largest in the Pyrenees. During the Gallo-Roman period, it was said to be the second largest hot spring resort after Naples in Italy. The hot spring resort is run by the town, and mainly treats respiratory ailments and rheumatism. フランス南部,オート・ガロンヌ県の町。人口3602(1982)。中部ピレネー山中の標高630mにある温泉保養地。社会保険の湯治者数2万1246(1976)はダクス,エクス・レ・バンに次いでフランス第3位,ピレネーでは最も多い。ガロ・ロマン時代にイタリアのナポリに次ぐ温泉場といわれた。温泉療養所は町営で,呼吸器系の病気とリウマチの治療を主としている。源泉は18~66℃の含硫黄ナトリウム硫酸塩泉(硫化水素型)である。
