Iramomi - Iramomi

It is an evergreen coniferous tall tree of the Pinaceae family (classification based on molecular phylogeny: Pinaceae), with an upright trunk and large trees that can reach a height of 30 meters and a diameter of 1 meter. Also known as Matsuhada. The bark is gray-brown. The leaves are linear and slightly curved, with sharp tips in young trees and blunt tips in older trees. It is monoecious. It blooms in May, with male flowers pale purple and female flowers dark purple. The cones are oblong, cylindrical, 5-12 cm long, purple at first, and dirty brown when mature in October. The wood is used for construction, utensils, and pulp. It is found in the subalpine zone of the Kanto and Chubu regions of Honshu.

マツ科（分子系統に基づく分類：マツ科）の常緑針葉高木で、樹幹は直立し、大きいものは高さ30メートル、直径1メートルに達する。別名マツハダ。樹皮は灰褐色。葉は線形で多少湾曲し、若木では先は鋭くとがり、老木では鈍くとがる。雌雄同株。5月に開花し、雄花は淡紫色、雌花は暗紫色。球果は長楕円(ちょうだえん)状円柱形で長さ5～12センチメートル、初め紫色、10月に成熟して汚褐色となる。材は建築、器具、パルプとして使われる。本州の関東、中部地方の亜高山帯に分布する。
