A former town in Saga County, central Saga Prefecture. Located on the Saga Plain, rice cultivation is thriving, and seaweed is cultivated along the Ariake Sea coast. The Karatsu Line branches off from Kubota Station on the Nagasaki Main Line. In October 2007, it was incorporated into Saga City along with Kawazoe Town and Higashiyoga Town in Saga County. 14.39 km2 . Population: 8,214 (2005). 佐賀県中部，佐賀郡の旧町。佐賀平野にあり米作が盛んで，有明海沿岸ではノリを養殖。長崎本線久保田駅から唐津線が分岐する。2007年10月佐賀郡川副町，東与賀町と佐賀市へ編入。14.39km2。8214人（2005）。
