A triangular bay centered around 37.5°E longitude on the Antarctic continent, running south to 70°S longitude. Showa Station is on the east coast of the bay (Sōya Coast), and the west coast passes through the Prince Harald Coast, with the Riiser-Larsen Peninsula stretching north. The Shirase Glacier flows into the back of the bay. There is perennial sea ice in the bay, making navigation to Showa Station very difficult. A Norwegian seaplane sighted the bay on February 21, 1931, and named it after Finn Lützow-Holm, a pilot from the previous year's expedition.
