A small antelope with a slim, slender body. A mammal of the Bovidae family in the order Artiodactyla. Its body color is light yellowish brown, except for its white underside and rump. Its ears are broad and long, and large. Males have pointed horns that extend straight up from their heads, measuring 9-19 cm in length. Its body length is 70-95 cm, its tail is vestigial, 4-6 cm long, and it weighs 7-16 kg. It lives in dry grasslands up to an altitude of 4,700 m in East and South Africa, as well as in grasslands after deforestation, where males and females form territories together.

細くスマートな体型をした小型のアンテロープの1種。偶蹄目ウシ科の哺乳類。体色は，白色の腹面と臀部（でんぶ）を除き全身明るい黄褐色。耳は幅広く長く大きい。雄には長さ9～19cmの頭からまっすぐ上にのびるとがった角がある。体長70～95cm，尾は痕跡的で，長さ4～6cm，体重7～16kg。東アフリカと南アフリカの標高4700mくらいまでの乾いた草地のほか，森林が伐採された後の草地に，雌雄のつがいでなわばりをつくってすむ。
