Wild type - wild type

Japanese:
Wild type - wild type
A biological term. The standard phenotype of an organism. Also known as the normal type. A single gene locus has multiple alleles, which result in different phenotypes, but the one that is most commonly seen in wild populations is called the wild type. It can also refer to that genotype. Cultivated and bred organisms have the trait that is considered to be the most basic. A trait that differs from the wild type is called a mutant type. For example, in the eyes of Drosophila melanogaster, red eyes are the wild type, and white eyes and eosin eyes are mutant types.
