Queen of Silla, ancient Korea. Date of birth and death unknown. Reigned 887-897. Family name Kim, given names Man and Won. Daughter of King Gyeongmun and sister of King Jeonggang. Towards the end of the Silla period, peasants rose up in revolts all over the country, and many warlords fought for power. The queen did not give up on the extravagant court life, and in 889, Wonjong and Aino rebelled in Sabeolju (Sangju) due to harsh taxes, Yang Gil and Gung Ye conspired to attack from the north (891), Jin Heon became independent from the southwest (892), and in 896, the Red Pole Rebels threatened the royal capital (Gyeongju). Around this time, the collection of local songs, "The Third Generation," was compiled by royal command, and many students from China, including Choi Chiwon, returned to Japan. 古代朝鮮,新羅の女王。生没年不詳。在位887‐897年。姓は金,諱(いみな)は,曼,垣。景文王の娘,定康王の妹。新羅末期,各地に農民が蜂起し群雄の割拠する状態となった。女王は華美な宮廷生活をやめず,889年,酷税から沙伐州(尚州)で元宗,哀奴らが反乱,北方からは梁吉と弓裔(きゆうえい)が結託して迫り(891),南西方には甄萱(しんけん)が自立(892),96年には赤袴賊が王京(慶州)を脅かした。このころ王命によって郷歌集《三代目》が編まれ,崔致遠ら渡唐留学生の帰国者も多い。
