A painter from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period. His name was Takeyasu, and he was popularly known as Ryohei. He was from Edo. At the age of 18, he became a disciple of Takada Enjo and studied the Kano school, later studying the Tosa school, and was inspired by the painting styles of Kano Tan'yu and Maruyama Okyo. In later years, he also adopted Western painting techniques, broadly learning Japanese, Chinese and Western styles. He had a strong loyalty to the emperor, and by studying court customs and customs, he opened up new horizons in historical painting. He traveled all over the country, visiting ancient temples and old houses, making copies of architecture, furnishings, weapons and armor, and wrote books such as "Todaiji Treasures" and "Weapon Illustrations." Among his paintings are the "Horikawa Night Attack Ema" (Asakusa Temple, Tokyo) and historical paintings such as "Afang Palace," as well as woodblock prints of 500 portraits of wise rulers, righteous samurai, loyal subjects, and heroic women, along with short biographies of them in the "Zenken Kojitsu" series.
