Yasumibaiseki ruins

Japanese: 休場遺跡 - やすみばいせき

This is a site of a Pre-Pottery Microlith Culture located in the Kanaoka Ashitaka cadastral area in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Excavated by Meiji University in 1964, a large number of microblades and stone tools consisting mainly of microblades were unearthed. The site is located at an altitude of about 280m at the foot of Mt. Aitaka, and a cultural layer was found in a loam layer about 2.5m below the surface. This cultural layer was later called the "Yuyuba Layer" and has become the standard for stratigraphic studies of the Pre-Pottery culture in this region. During the excavation in 1964, two hearth remains with burnt soil and charcoal remaining inside a stone enclosure were discovered, and these are now considered valuable materials as one of the most certain remains of dwelling sites from the Pre-Pottery period.

静岡県沼津市金岡足高地籍にある先土器時代細石器文化の遺跡。1964年に明治大学が発掘し，多数の細石刃と細石刃を主体とする石器群を発掘した。遺跡は愛鷹山麓の標高約280mの位置にあり，地表下約2.5mのローム層中に文化層が存在した。この文化層はその後〈休場層〉と呼ばれ，この地域の先土器時代文化の層位学的検討の基準となっている。なお64年の発掘の際には石で囲んだ中に焼土や炭が残存する炉跡2ヵ所が発見されたが，これは現在先土器時代における最も確実な住居場所の遺構の一つとして貴重な資料とされている。
