...In 1879, the Tokyo Shokonsha became a special government-sponsored Yasukuni Shrine. The official Shokonsha shrines were established for each domain, and received government funding in 1874 from the Ministry of the Interior. Many of them had been established by 1871, mainly in the domains that had opposed the shogunate, such as Yamaguchi and Kagoshima.
