Western-style painter and poet. Born in Yokohama on September 15, 1896. After studying in Kochi, he moved to Kyoto with his family at the age of four. While attending the Prefectural First Junior High School, he was strongly influenced by his cousin, Yamamoto Kanae, and published a circulating magazine, demonstrating his precocious talent in literature and art. In 1914 (Taisho 3), he graduated from junior high school and moved to Tokyo. At the recommendation of Kosugi Misei (Hoan), he became a research student in the Western-style painting department of the Reestablished Japan Art Academy, and exhibited works such as "Girl in the Garden" (watercolor) at the 1st Nikaten Exhibition. The following year, he exhibited "Kanna and Girl" (watercolor) at the 2nd Japan Art Academy Exhibition, and won the Academy's prize. In 1917, he received an encouragement prize at the Japan Art Academy's Prototype Exhibition for "Lake and Woman" (oil painting) and the sketch "Girl in Costume," and became an associate of the Academy. He also wrote novels and poetry, suffered heartbreak, wandered, and suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis during his decadent lifestyle. In 1924, he exhibited "Pine Tree and Enoki" (oil painting) and other works at the Academy's experimental exhibition, receiving the second prize in the Art Academy Award, and then passed away on February 20th at the age of 22. His poetry collection "Kaita no Utaheru" was published posthumously (1928).
