Buster Keaton

Buster Keaton

American film actor. His real name is Joseph Francis Keaton. Born in Kansas. He appeared on stage at a young age under the guidance of his parents, who were vaudeville performers, and showed talent in acrobatics. He entered the film industry in 1917, and after playing supporting roles in Roscoe Arbuckle's comedies, he began to write and perform his own works in 1920. He produced masterpieces of slapstick comedy, full of spectacle, based on acrobatics, such as "The Three Generations of Love" (1923), "Detective Introduction" and "Keaton's Undersea King" (1924), "Seven Chances" (1925), and "Keaton's Locomotive" (1926). He was known for his expressionless face, which never changes no matter what happens, and was one of the three great comedians, along with Chaplin and Lloyd. After the talkies, he did not do well, and only made a brief appearance in Chaplin's "Limelight" (1952). His silent comedies are about fighting against the things around him, and their true value lies in the way that as he is tossed about by these things, the order of the world takes on a completely different appearance. After his death, his works have been re-evaluated worldwide.
