Mitsuzaki Kengyo

Japanese:
Mitsuzaki Kengyo

He was a performer and composer of jiuta (jiuta) and sokyo (koto music). There is also a theory that he died in 1846 (Koka 3). His capital name was Naminoichi (nami no ichi). He was from Kyoto. He was a student of Yaezaki Kengyo, who developed Kyoto-style tegotomono (hand-held musical pieces) that turned shamisen music into sokyo (koto music), and he aimed to establish a new sokyo (koto music) that separated the shamisen, composing "Tenpo-gumi" ("Akikaze no kyoku" etc.) as a new sokyo (koto group song). He also composed "Godankinuta" as a synthesis of danmono (stage music) and kinuta (kinuta music), and wrote "Kotokyoku Hifu (Hidden Music of Koto Music)". However, due to his innovative activities, his woodblocks were burned, he was banished from his Kyoto craftsman's residence, and he died in obscurity in Kanazawa. His disciple, Koto Kuzuhara, inherited this piece as a Chinese-style Ikuta-style koto piece. He also composed "Shichi Komachi" and "Yoyo no Hoshi".
