The same can be said of the 17th century French poet La Fontaine's "Fables." Along with "fables," "parables" are also a type of allegory, and are intended to teach lessons in life in a metaphorical and allegorical way. This type of "parable," which Jesus Christ liked to preach, is found in many places in the Bible.
