… From the end of the 6th century BCE to the middle of the 5th century BCE, Chinese bronzeware production reached its second peak. Modern designs with circular handles, such as rice bowls (tai), whose lids and bodies were almost identical and formed a sphere when put together, soup bowls (kei), which were oval when viewed from above, and tall cups (tou), which had lids, became popular. Many medium-sized vases with bulb-shaped legs were made, and many new vessel shapes appeared, such as low jars for holding water for washing hands and herb broths (shou), which looked like earthenware pots with legs. Designs included more detailed versions of the ground patterns that had begun in the previous period, and designs of dragons with fine spiral patterns on their bodies became popular in northern China. …

…　前6世紀末から前5世紀中期には，中国の青銅器製作は第2の頂点に達してゆく。蓋と身がほぼ同形で，合わせると球に近い形になる飯入れ(敦（たい）)，上から見た形が楕円形をなすスープ用のはち(鉶（けい）)，蓋付きの高杯(豆（とう）)などが，環状の把手を付けたモダンなデザインで作られて流行し，壺に電球形の器に足を付けた形の中型のものが多く作られ，手洗いの水を入れる丈の低いかめ(盥缶（かんふ）)，土瓶に足を付けたような形の香草の煮汁用の容器(鐎（しよう）)が現れるなど，新しい器形が少なくない。文様としては前の時期に始まった地文をさらに細密にしたものがあり，また身体部分に細かい渦文を描き入れた竜の類をからみ合わせた文様が華北で流行する。…
