A country that appears in the Wajinden section of the Gishi. From Taihogun, passing through Kuya Korea, the last country on the Korean peninsula, and then from Ikikoku to Kyushu, it corresponds to Matsura no Agata in the Kojiki and Matsuura no Agata in the Nihon Shoki, so it is believed to be in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. There is also a theory that it corresponds to Nagoya, Chinzei Town, Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. Of the various countries leading to Yamataikoku, only Matsuru has no official name, and the explanation for this is a point of contention. It is written that "More than 4,000 households live along the mountains and the sea, and the vegetation is so thick that it is impossible to see anyone walking ahead of you, but people enjoy diving into the water to catch fish."
