It refers to a state in which the population is concentrated above the appropriate level. However, it is extremely difficult to calculate what level is an appropriate population, and in that sense, it is an ambiguous term academically. It is generally used to describe large cities with a high concentration of population. Excessive population concentration can lead to problems such as housing problems, pollution problems, and traffic problems, giving the impression of overcrowding. Today, while overcrowding is progressing, depopulation is also progressing noticeably.
