Yonago Plain - Yonagohei

Japanese: 米子平野 - よなごへいや
Yonago Plain - Yonagohei

A plain in the lower reaches of the Hino River in western Tottori Prefecture. It is an alluvial fan plain with the alluvial fan at the western foot of Mt. Daisen and the area around Hoki Town as its apex, and in a broader sense includes the Yumigahama (Yomigahama) sandbar. Along the coast of Miho Bay, wide sandbanks have been formed due to sea level changes and sand flow from the iron hole drift in the upper reaches of the Hino River. The geology consists of granite gravel from the Hino Mountains and volcanic clastic gravel from Mt. Daisen, with marine deposits containing shell fossils at depths of 4 meters or more and diluvial deposits at depths of 25 meters or more. In addition to lowland remains from the end of the Early Jomon period, the remains of a jori structure can be seen west of Kuzumo, Yonago City, and Sada, Yodoe Town, Yonago City, and traces of a river channel that moved three times west remain. Irrigation from the Sano River and other irrigation waters has been carried out since the Edo period, and the area has become a grain-producing region. In addition to rice cultivation, tobacco leaves, white leeks, and carrots are cultivated in the sand dune areas.
