This phenomenon occurs when seeds sprout from ears of wheat before harvest. This phenomenon is seen in wheat, rice, corn, and other crops due to weather conditions such as rainfall, and can lead to reduced yields and poor quality. As a countermeasure, early-ripening varieties that can be harvested before the rainy season and varieties with genes that are highly dormant and do not germinate easily even when they absorb water are being bred.
