(1) The title of a Kyogen piece. Written as "Bōshibari (Bō-shibari)." Tarokaja Kyogen. In both the Okura and Izumi schools. The master noticed that his two servants, Tarokaja and Jirokanja, would steal sake whenever he was out, so one day he came up with a plan and tied Tarokaja's arms to a pole with both sides spread out, and tied Jirokanja's hands behind his back before going out. The two servants, who were left behind, still wanted to drink, and after much effort, despite their awkward postures, they began to pour sake into large cups and bring it to each other's mouths to drink, in a strange drinking party. They were enjoying themselves with singing and dancing when the master returned home and scolded them.

(1)狂言の曲名。《棒縛》と書く。太郎冠者狂言。大蔵，和泉両流にある。主人は，いつも自分が外出したすきに，2人の召使い，太郎冠者と次郎冠者が盗み酒をすることに気づき，ある日一計を案じ，太郎冠者の両腕を左右に広げたまま棒に縛り，次郎冠者は後ろ手に縛ってから外出する。残された2人は，やはり酒が飲みたくなり，苦心の結果，不自由な格好のまま大盃に酒をくみ，互いの口まで運んで飲むという，珍妙な酒盛りを始め，歌舞に興ずるところへ主人が帰宅し，叱責される。
