Deformed nucleus - deformed nuclei

A nucleus whose shape deviates from spherical symmetry. Many nuclei with mass numbers between 155 and 185 and above 225 are spheroidal, some of which have large nuclear quadrupole moments, and some of which have rotational levels specific to spheroids that appear as excited states.
